On our series on the dual meaning of words, we look at dispatch and ask: Send it or Kill it.

'I recently bought a stick insect online and was chatting to the seller on the phone when he said he would dispatch it' said Pete Gravy of Carshalton.

'I had this brief sense of panic in case he meant the wrong one. But it was ok as the next day the package arrived. And it was like a massacre in there. The bastard had wasted him.'

Claire Trowel also suffered a similar quandry.

'My pony had a nasty infection and had to be put down. The vet visitted the stables and told me he woukd dispatch him for me. I stayed at home and couldn't watch.'

'I was worried briefly over the dual meaning but then realised he was of course a vet and not to worry.'

'Three days later a 72 shrink wrapped horse steaks turned up at my front door.'

'He really was a funny man. The twat.'
