Alternatives to everyday kitchen essentials can be found if you are just creative enough.
If you are craving a crusty foccacia with balsamic vinaigrette and olive oil but have ran out of the liquid goodness, melt down some lard and liberally douse in Sarson's malt vinegar. We haven't actually tried it but are sure it's delicious!
Speaking of olive oil, a nicely pitted and filled olive makes a tasty treat at any time. But don't despair if you run out. We have found a taste and texture almost identical.
Ear wax. And just as nutritious.
Finally, we look at rocket. Our favourite salad leaf is packed with texture and a unique peppery flavour.
Just use pepper instead. Ground, white pepper. Sprinkle a shitload over everything for that all encompassing 'all I can taste is the rocket' experience.
