Tzipi Hotovely, the new Israeli foreign minister, has said that everything she looks at belongs to Israel.

In a speech littered with religious references, she quoted from the Torah saying 'And lo, there will come a young hardliner and it will come to pass that anything she finds she can have. And the name of this person shall be me.'

When asked if using a non-factual text as a basis for foreign policy, Ms. Hotovely said 'Of course it's true.'

'Fact upon fact. It says that anyone already living there that isn't Jewish can be ignored and their houses bulldozed. It's a very prophetic text. It knew about bulldozers.'

But what of the Palestinians?

'Who?'

The Palestinians?

'What part of 'can be ignored' don't you understand? La la la la la. I am not listening to you. The Torah says so, I win, no takebacks!'
