With the news that Poundland is taking over 99p stores, talentless hacks have been falling over themselves to make penny based gags.

The BBC seem to have stuck with 'In for a penny, in for a pound' but Sky's Kay Burleigh nailed it with typical tabloid bluntness.

'Fuck me, it's an extra p!' Burleigh went with on todays lunchtime news. This led to a flurry of complaints to Ofcom largely centred around Burleigh still being on the television and not having pissed off somewhere else.

This is not the first time that journalists have attempted humour and nor will it be the last. Please call the Samaritans on 08457 90 90 90.
