Twitter has released a new algorithm that will block and ban abusive tweets and direct messages.
Twitter owner, Kal Grundisburgh, said the move was designed to protect the vulnerable.
'Our record on this has been poor. Many people have been abused and worse over the years. It's about time we did something about it.'
The algorithm was activated at midnight last night.
Mr. Grundisburgh said it had already had a profound effect.
'Over 99.96% of all tweets, DMs and users have been deleted from our servers.'
'You really are all a bunch of abusive, bullying pricks aren't you?'
'Oh well, maybe I will just accept the inevitable.'
'I'm turning the algorithm off and then renaming us Twatter. It's who we are. Stand tall and proud, you fucking twats.'
