The BBC is to end it's historic contract with the Met Office to supply its weather data it has been announced.

In a bid to save money, the BBC will instead employ a network of retired Geography teachers to look out of their window and call with a weather report.

'This will be an innovative and cost effective way to bring the British public their weather report.' said head of BBC Weather Mike Gerndt.

'For example, in the morning during the Breakfast show, Carol Kirkwood will get the weather in the north by calling Mr. Scudamore, 82, retired head of Geography from Welborough High School.'

'He will open a window, put his hand out and tell us over the phone what's happening and try to avoid making any casually racist comments on live television.'

'It's innovative, fresh, and costs just ten quid a week in national rate phone calls. Fibre Optic!'
