Animal lover Ricky Gervais today tweeted about a human tragedy that in no way involved animals.

Breaking the habit if a lifetime, Gervais took a 'humans first' approach and showed compassion for members of his own species.

'I understand Gervais's point that animals, unlike humans, have no say in how they live their lives.' said Professor Charles Langtree of Felchfield Polytechnic.

'But it's not like someone in sub-Saharan Africa or in a poor village in a geologically active area has much of a choice either.'

'Plus his cat has the carbon footprint of a Volkswagen Golf, more than Ethiopians or Vietnamese.'

'Can't he just eat the fucking thing and then not replace it? Yes, hunting is horrific. But humans starving is worse.'
